Old Spice Utd v Fry Club

Sunday 13th September 2009

The 13th September will be a day the Fry Club U15's will not be allowed to forget in a hurry.  We were due to play Lees Hill in the cup, but unfortunately they didn't turn up so after organising a side of ex-professionals at short notice, OLD SPICE UNITED were reformed.  With pro's like Iron Belly John, Boldy Builder Clifton, Goal Scoring Gitsham, Crazy Legs Kev and many more, the game went ahead. The tactics were simple, "We are the parents, we're gonna win".  Within minutes the boys were given a penalty as one of them happened to fall over inside the area with no contact whatsoever!  Iron Belly John deflected the shot with his belly, only to have it knocked in by what seemed to be a passer by. That was it! with some great movement and simple passing football Old Spice eased past the boys and scored.  As time went by and the goals were getting scored, the Under 15 side still seemed to be falling over and being held back.  Mind you the wind did pick up.  With scores at 4-4, Old Spice made what looks hard to do in the premiership, look so easy and effortless.  A  goal kick by Andy 'The Hammer' Needs, found Battling Brett Charman, then on to Tactical Andy Taylor who floated it to Precision Paul Driscoll with a well placed pass through to Bomber Lee Bone and then on to Crazy Legs Kev who slotted it to the newest player of Old Spice, Battling Ben Finch who went on to score the winning goal!  OLD SPICE UNITED 5 FRY CLUB 4

Good game boys, better luck next time! Gordy
