With a new found confidence,
Fry’s approached this game in a positive attitude. Maybe they had become a
little complacent because 3 minutes after kick off failed to defend the first
attack from Thornbury and a week shot found its way under the diving Tom Rose.
Not a good start !!.
Credit to the boys though, they came battling back and after 7 minutes a through
ball from Justin Skinner found Dan Buley who lobbed it over the Thornbury keeper
to bring the scores level.
The first half continued
with Frys having numerous chances but could not get the ball past the Thornbury
keeper who was having an excellent game.
The second half saw Fry’s at the form of old that they played last season with
football that was a joy to watch. Good possession with some excellent passing
was just too much for the opposition and paid off with another 3 goals. Evan
Thomas blasted the ball in from the edge of the area, Danny Curtis with that
trusty right boot from the spot scored a penalty and Dan Buley scored his second
with a header from a corner. John Cotgreave, after coming on as sub to replace
Dan, came very close to getting a 5th for Fry’s but shot just wide
into the side netting.
In general, it was a good performance, and a well
deserved victory
