Never the easiest place to visit, there weren’t too many players looking forward to this fixture. However a positive approach was demanded for the opening minutes of this game and we saw 2 very good chances missed with the first one from Oli Randall hitting the post from a James Boulton free kick. Highridge though dominated the rest of the first half and most of the second with some good play. Some good touches from Jordan Knight and Reece Tucker in Midfield gave a couple of half chances to our forwards in the second half but once Highridge scored both of their goals the game was effectively over. Or so we thought! A piece of inspiration originating from Andy Payne saw James Hurrell Smith moved up front for the final 15 minutes of the game which finally gave the Highridge defence something else to worry about with James’ sheer speed and persistence which almost paid off. In the end though we just ran out of time and had to accept the better team won on the day.
Man of
the Match this week was between several good performers but it was deservedly
won by Ben Bowden for his excellent work at full back in tackling and winning
balls.
