AVON YOUTH LEAGUE U’15 DIV 3

SUN 15 OCT 06

ASHTON BOYS             3

FRY CLUB COLTS        7

Following our run of 2 defeats on the spin, we travelled to Ashton Park determined to put a stop to our slide down the table. A change in formation was to prove far more rewarding for us than Englands game!

The pressure was applied from the start as we dominated the opening spell. Both Brad Monelle and Charlie Frampton were being well supported by our midfield as opportunities were created and it wasn’t long before another shot on target from Brad opened the scoring as the ball flew under the keepers dive. Soon it was 2-0 from a great cross from the right to Charlie Frampton who slotted home into the open goal. A penalty was awarded to us for hand ball and without our regular taker Jordan Knight, Brad Monelle stood up to take it only for the keeper to pull off a great save. Further pressure and great play from Danny McCarthy in Midfield created a chance for Craig Andrews whose great shot put us well in command at 3-0. During this period, our defence was rarely troubled but just before half time, Ashton pulled a goal back to make the score 3-1.

The second half started very much the same way as  Danny McCarthy, Oli Randall and Craig Andrews were well on top in the Midfield battles well supported from wide men Dean Lapham and Kyle Curtis who were being given more and more open play with the ball. Ashton did pull a second back but Craig Andrews went to on complete his hat trick with 2 well taken goals.  Substitute Mo Bouaziz was introduced into attack and he immediately scored our 6th goal. Ashton pulled a late consolation back but we still has further good chances with Dean Lapham, Brad Monelle and Kyle Curtis all unlucky with their shots. Indeed Kyles shot rebounded point blank to Mo who scored his second and our 7th to earn us a 7-3 victory.

In truth it could have been a lot more, but in view of the last 2 results this really was a comprehensive victory with every singly member of our squad playing extremely well. There was one player in particular who stood out today which was Danny McCarthy and he was awarded todays Man of the Match.
