CADBURY HEATH  2

With 2 games to go this was another ‘must win’ game against a very good team.

Our start to the game was very strong, forcing the play into their half and creating width and opportunities in their penalty box. After 13 mins this pressure paid off when indecision in their box between keeper and defender gave Charlie Frampton a chance to bravely put his head into the ball first and direct it over the line to put us 1-0 up. Oli Murray and James Boulton were again playing well in defence resisting the few chances that Cadbury Heath were beginning to create and our lead could have been increased if our dominance in the first 20 mins had been taken following a succession of half chances and corners. However, as the half moved on, Cadbury twice struck the bar and post to sound the warning bells for us. Only good handling by Craig Francis in goal and James HUrrell Smith sweeping in front of him kept our lead intact upto half time.

Within 60 seconds of the re start, Craig Francis made a fine save at the near post and although nothing came from the corner for Cadbury the ball was quickly moved up field and and great ball into the box from Dean Lapham ended at the foot of Mo Bouaziz who stroked it over the line for our lead to be doubled. Within a minute of that Brad Monelle found himself in space on the right and from 30 yards fired a powerful shot into the top corner to in crease our lead to 3-0. This inspired confidence and our movement forward was now proving too good for their defence. Good passing gave us half chances which we were unlucky not to take advantage of but it was Cadbury who came up with the next goal as a hand ball decision against us gave Cadbury a penalty. Even the subsequent sending off of a Cadbury player for language didn’t stop the penalty from being converted and within 2 mins a mis understanding allowed |Cadbury to pull another goal back to bring the score to 3-2. Our confidence remained high though which allowed us to continue pushing forward and against 10 men we found more space to penetrate. Craig Andrews took full advantage of the with a great shot to increase our lead to 4-2 after 72 mins, Oli Randall had a delightful chip which rebounded of the cross bar shortly after but the game was sealed on 78 mins with another composed shot by Craig Andrews to earn a thoroughly deserved 5-2 win.

There were some great team performances again today but the one person that played superb throughout the game was our keeper Craig Francis who won todays Man of the Match for his brilliant handling and saves.
