Following our excellent performance and victory last week, we visited Blackhorse Road knowing a win could see us top of the table again.

We had a full squad of players to select from this week and our start to the game was very positive with Oli Randall, Craig Andrews and Danny McCarthy all controlling the central Midfield on a small pitch. Brad Monelle had the best of the chances in the first half but just couldn’t beat the keeper. In defence Michael Payne, James Hurrell Smith and James Boulton were closing the Heath attacks down and playing the ball out to retain possession well. With many chances coming and going we remained patient and reward came from a great Kyle Curtis corner deep to the back post for Oli Randall to head home a deserved opener. Minutes later we were 2 up following a spectacular 35 yarder from Danny McCarthy which flew over the stranded keeper into the top left corner. This put us now well in command of the game.

We continued the pressure in the second half as Cadbury Heath looked for a way back into the game. However, our defence stood firm which allowed our Midfield to continue to create chances. Both wingers Nathan Dawson and Kyle Curtis were enjoying a lot of ball possession but we just couldn’t find a third goal to kill the game. Brad Monelle and Craig Andrews were still causing the Heath defence problems and with a great goal line clearance from a Kyle Curtis shot they were just hanging on. In the final minutes a great chance fell to Cadbury Heath but with the help of a post and 2 great goal line clearances we kept a clean sheet to win the game 2-0 and go top of the table.

Another fantastic team performance contributed to the win with each individual player carrying out their jobs effectively. 

James Boulton though just stood out from the rest and was awarded todays Man of the Match for his defensive display and great distribution.
