HENBURY 7
Our final league match was on Pitch 13 against the
team that had already won the division title.
We started the game very positively by keeping the
ball and passing and supporting well. We forced 3 early corners but couldn’t
find the all important chance to shoot on target. However, 3 mistakes were to
cost us dearly in the first half as on each occasion Henbury
took advantage and scored to put the game beyond us by half time at 3-0.
Despite this set back, we continued to play with confidence but just didn’t get
enough shots away to test the keeper.
The second half was a difficult 40 minutes to manage
as Henbury proved their quality by turning the
pressure into goals almost at will. A short corner led to their 4th goal,
whilst up front Lewis Watt and Charlie Frampton linked up to give Lewis a
volley shot at goal which went wide. We conceded a 5th direct from a
corner, as a miskick still somehow found a Henbury head which went in from 12 yards out. Back at the
other end we finally found our range as a great through ball found Lewis Watt
who made no mistake to fire home our final league goal. 2 further mistakes were
to lead to Henbury sealing a fine victory by the
margin of 7-1. It wasn’t quite as one sided as the scoreline
suggested, but when you are up against League Champions almost all of the half chances seem
to go against you.
Final Man of the Match was made to Oli Randall who tried his hardest to keep everyone's confidence up as the goals kept going in.
