HENBURY COLTS        6

FRY CLUB COLTS        0

With a reduced squad, we travelled to Henbury still confident we could get a result, but it was to prove a little different.

The opening 10 minutes were even with neither side creating any good chances. However, from our first corner, a great cross in from Mo Bouaziz across the goal just failed to connect the head of Charlie Frampton, a good chance we were to regret as Henbury's first shot at goal was just mis-handled into the path of a striker to put them 1-0 up. Soon after it was 2 as another mistake allowed the ball to fall at the feet of another striker who made no mistake. With emotions running a little high, a rash challenge brought Henbury a third goal from the penalty spot. A fourth followed following a lucky shot which looped over the head of Craig Francis who could do nothing to stop it. Our best spell of the game came in the last part of the first half. James Boulton, now moved forward, hit his volley straight at the keeper and Mo’s free kick grazed the bottom of the bar before coming back out into play. Our pressure and movement began to show but we still could not unlock the Henbury defence.

Some honest discussions were made at half time to rally the dropped heads and this worked as we went a long way in the second half without conceding. 2 further half chances were created, including another driving free kick from James Boulton which just cleared the bar and a swivel and turn shot which the keeper saved. We even had the luxury of giving away another penalty which was missed by Henbury. However, a 5th and 6th goal saw us lose to our heaviest defeat for some time. Two shining lights in the match was Danny McCarthy's calm character when asked to move into defence and mark a very good striker and Michael Payne, who got better as the game went on. He was awarded today's Man of the Match for his effort in an otherwise bitterly disappointing team performance. We can of course play a lot better which the players now have to prove.
