Another victory for the U16's in the traditional end of season 'boys v men' fixture.

Match report by Dave Worlock

A fine dry day for the managers match started badly when Rob Stone, the managers star defender, injured himself during the warm up.  An able replacement Centre Half was soon found in Dave Mogg who playing alongside 1st teamer Joe Garland , playing for his dad, marshalled the defence superbly.  There weren't many clear cut chances in a tight 1st half which ended 0-0.

2nd half. The managers made some changes at half-time with Joe Garland, Jack Gooding and Scott Janes having to go and play for the Seniors. Almost from the start the Managers attacked. A run down the right by Kevin Bilby was crossed in. Andy Glover dummied it (completely missed it) taking three players out of the game and it came to Gavin Ellington of the Under 7's and he rifled it into the top corner past the despairing dive of Colin Wheeler. 1-0 to the Managers and they were flying.  The referee should have blown the final whistle then as this just spurred the lads on even more.  The u16s received a free kick on the edge of the penalty area.  Tom W took the free kick and the ball was cleared back to him on the edge of box which he drove into the bottom corner, 1-1.  A couple of good decisions by Rob Stone, who was now linesman, kept the score down for a few more minutes.  Finally the offside trap was sprung and Tom slotted home his 2nd.  Things weren’t going well!  Luckily the u16s missed a penalty, due to some good goalkeeping and gamesmanship from Kieron.  By now the managers had lost all shape and the 4-4-2 formation was now a 5-1-4 with Brad Morgan doing a sterling job in the middle of the park!  The u16s were now running rings around him.  Tom W lobbed the keeper from 40 yards out to complete his hat-trick and when Teggy kicked Tom's foot onto the ball from a long throw to make it 4-1 it was nearly all over.  A final attack from the managers saw Scott Janes hacked down in the penalty area.  The ball was given to Dave Worlock who placed the ball on the spot.  The whistle is blown and he bends the ball into the side of the goal leaving the keeper no chance, 4-2. A quality goal to finish the game.

We hope to see some of the talent on show playing in the future for the  Senior teams.

Good Luck for the future.
