Annual Awards

1981

The annual celebration of skill, commitment, dedication, teamwork and effort took place at Fry Hall in 1981. Congratulations to all of the winners, and to all who contributed to another year of good behaviour and achievement. Good behaviour and respectful conduct is being recognised by Somerdale as an integral value, in addition to being a basic requirement of membership.

This year we were honoured to have as Guest of Honour Trevor Tainton.  Trevor was a midfielder in the Football League for Bristol City. He first appearared in the 1967-68 season and he went on to play 486 League games for the Ashton Gate side. He was a member of the successful promotion side of 1976, and went on to play for City in the old First Division (what is now the Premiership).  Trevor was a member of the "Ashton Gate Eight" who tore up their contracts in 1982 to save Bristol City from extinction.
