On Sunday 15th May 2011, many players and their family’s gathered on the main front pitch at Frys for the most important game of the season. Wanderers– Jamie, Jace, Jordan, Jake, Joe, Aaron, Max, Harry, James, Will and new players Joe MW and Chaz. Parents – Paul H, Phil W, Karl, Tom B, Wendell, Ade, Paul G, Lucy (Max’s sister), together with our new player Joe’s dad, Simon. Referee – Maurice. The match was very competitive with chances at both ends, Wanderers went 2-0 up in the first 15 minutes with goals from Chaz and Jake. The parents staged a come-back with 2 goals from Wendell and finished the half 2-2 and a yellow card for the Manager!! The Wanderers began the second half with a goal from Jordan but this was followed by 2 goals for the parents from Paul H and Wendell completing his hat-trick. Jake then evened the score 4-4 but the parents again put the pressure on with a goal first from Tom, then from Simon. The Wanderers fought back to a 6-6 draw with Chaz scoring 2 and completing his hat-trick. The whistle blew but everyone wanted a winner so it was agreed to play for the ‘golden goal’. It took around 1 minute for the Wanderers to score the decisive goal with a great strike from Jace. Final score 7-6 to the Wanderers, a great way to end the season with a win. Men of the Match, as chosen by opposing teams, Jordan for the Wanderers and Ade for the parents. |
