Recently three of our U12's visited the Children's Hospice South West, to hand over money that they had raised by undertaking an Ironman Challenge, as well as money that the Team had raised through Bag packing and collecting at Home matches. On March 23rd 2019, three of our U12 players undertook an Ironman Challenge of a one mile swim, two mile run and then fifteen mile cycle ride.  For their U11 year onwards, the Team decided that, rather than get a sponsor for their kit, that they would sponsor a charity. They decided to have the Children's Hospice South West logo printed on their shirts, and to collect for the charity at each of their Home matches. Now that the dust has settled on the Fry Club JFC tournament, we can look back and reflect on what was a great weekend of football for the local community, and two days of fun for all of the girls and boys who took part.  We thank all of the Vendors and Stall Holders who supported us, the Managers, Assistants and Volunteers who helped out on the two days, and most importantly the Teams, without who these events would not be possible.  As a Club we began in the 1968/69 season, and so we felt it important in the 2018/19 season to mark 50 years with a big event and what better way than to bring back our tournament after an eight year hiatus, and to get one Team into a final and another to actually win theirs was an added bonus.  For photos of all of the Tournament Winners as well as a few more, please click the link and thanks again to everyone who participated.  See you next year!

Fry Club JFC has moved firmly into a new era as we have modernised our kit purchasing process, moving away from the old model of buying from local distributors who could not guarantee the same style each year, and have moved to a supplier who has created a bespoke kit which will always be available (and supply many professional Clubs including Bristol City and Bristol Rovers).  Part of the supply deal includes a new Club Shop where the kits can be bought online, as well as peripheral clothing.  This is a positive and progressive move as part of the modernisation of Fry Club JFC and the link will be permanently in the top banner of this website.

Good luck to all of the Fry Club JFC teams, from Saturday mornings, to Sunday mornings, to Sunday afternoons who kick off this weekend for the 2019/20 season.  We hope it's a fun and enjoyable season.  We have teams in the Hanham Minor League, the Bristol Saturday League, the Avon Youth League, the Bristol Girls League and the Bristol U18 Combination.  Good luck to all.

An ex-Somerdale Wanderers/Fry Club JFC player is campaigning to have the law changed to allow he and five other ex-Southampton trialists the chance to finally see justice for allegations of historic sexual abuse.  Under the current law, the Ministry of Justice does not deem child molestation as "serious" enough under the Criminal Justice Act 2003 to be considered for the so-called double-jeopardy scenario where a person can be tried twice for the same crime, however pressure is mounting for that to change. Over 25 years ago, the original trial collapsed, and now as Bob Higgins faces life in prison, these six men seek their justice.  They have launched an online petition through the Offside Trust which if it receives 10,000 signatures will see the Government respond, and at 100,000 signatures, the Government will consider the petition for debate in Parliament.  We at Fry Club JFC urge everyone to sign this petition, not just for Dean and the five other men, but for all victims of this horrific crime.

Fry Club JFC held their annual award ceremony at Somerdale Pavilion to recognise and reward this year's end of season winners on Saturday 8th June 2019.  The usual Club Awards were on offer; the Skill Award (up to U11), the Penalty Award, the Sportsperson and Player of the Year, the Stan Taylor five year loyalty tie, the Les Stroud ten year loyalty tankard, along with a few extras that some of the teams handed out, as well as every player receiving a memento of their season.  For photos of the Presentation Winners, click on the link and you can look back at Past Club Winners back to 2002 along with a few before that.

A massive well done to all who played in the annual Manager's Match at Somerdale. On a very hot day, the Managers raced into a 2-0 lead and looked comfortable. The U14/15's fought back however to bring it back to 2-2 and it looked like they would retain their trophy, but two late goals from the Managers saw them win back the Ron Williams Cup for the first time since 2015. Fry Club JFC old boy Mitchell Glover, who signed his first professional contract in June of 2018 has been a regular part of Darlington FC's 1st Team.  To recognise his efforts and achievement (and bask in the reflected glory as we set his feet on that path), Fry Club JFC sponsored his Away kit for his first professional season.  Part of that commitment saw Frys receive a photo with a player, and now that the season is over, the Away shirt that he wore for the season will be ours to keep as a memento as well. Mitchell started training with Frys in August 2004 when he was just three years old and has never looked back.

Mitchell has been playing with Darlington since December 2017 having followed his Manager from Nuneaton, but could not sign a professional contract until he was 17. After making his debut in the National League North as a 15 year old which set a record, he then also became the youngest player to score in the National League North at 16. He also set a Darlington milestone, becoming their first player born in this millennium to start a League game. For more on Mitchell's Career progression, click the link.

Fry Club JFC are always keen to accept new players into their ranks, whether that be the very youngest players just starting their journey into football via our Soccer Tots, or girls via our Wildcat Centre or boys through the variety of age groups which we run and can be accessed through the link on the left of the page. Fry Club JFC are proud to announce that we have successfully renewed our Wildcat Centre in association with the Somerset FA.  The SSE Wildcats Girls’ Football Centres provide girls aged 5-11 with regular opportunities to play football. The initiative offers 20 weeks of organised sessions in a fun and engaging environment created exclusively for girls, and so successful was the last Centre that we have been able to create an U10 Team to enter the Bristol Girls League next season.  For more information view our Wildcat page or the flyer on the right.

Our U8's took on our U9's recently in a chance to see the difference between 5v5 and 7v7.  Mini-Soccer rules are such that U7's and U8's play 5v5 matches on a 40 x 30 pitch, but then move up to a 60 x 40 pitch, effectively doubling the size of the pitch at U9 and U10 when they progress to 7v7.  It was a great match played in a fun but competitive spirit between two teams who understood the reasons behind the match, so well done to both teams, and click to see some photos of the match.  For more on the U8's, click on their Team Page.  For more on the U9's, click on their Team Page.

Our U11's have had a tough season this year, having firstly been placed in a division too high and then having lost two influential players at the start of the season it has been a difficult year, and results early on reflected that.  things have changed recently however with a change in formation and an on the day rotation policy which has seen them much more competitive with closer results including some drawn matches and seven some wins, and this began at Almondsbury back in November of 2018, and we are fortunate that a Professional Photographer was there to capture some images.  To see some of those photos, click on the link.  For more on the U11's, click on their Team Page.

This weekend our U11's turned out at the local Tesco for a few hours, helping shoppers pack their shopping away at the tills to raise funds.  For their U11 year, the Team decided that, rather than get a sponsor for their kit, that they would sponsor a charity. They decided to have the Children's Hospice South West logo printed on their shirts, and to collect for the charity at each of their Home matches.  All of the money raised by the Team this year across their various fundraising events will be split equally, with half going to the Children's Hospice and the other half going to the Club.  For more on the U11's, click on their Team Page.

Fry Club JFC old boy Aaron Sutton continues his progress as a Professional Boxer as he prepares for his next fight on March 9th. Aaron had a long and distinguished career for Frys before moving on to the the pugilistic arts, and we follow his career with pride. Aaron played for Frys for ten years, playing for his age group's Colts team, and receiving his Les Stroud 10 Year Award in 2015. For more on his Fight Career, click the link.

With 2018 long past us, we look back to before Christmas when our U15's welcomed Minehead to Manor Road PF as part of the Somerset County Cup. Every year we in the UK go through a period of match cancellations due to the rain.  Sometimes it's a weekend, sometimes it's a couple, and on the rare occasion, it a quarter of a year... This year however we get a weekend off because of the Snow, and both Somerdale and Manor Road PF were completely wiped out due to the white stuff.  To see a few more photos of the Snow at Manor Road PF, as well as further back, snow in front of the old Factory when we played on the top fields, please click on Snow.

With 2018 a dim and distant memory, we look back to before Christmas when our U14's welcomed Coalpit Heath to Manor Road PF and the boys of Frys continued to try their best, which as a Club, is all that anyone can ask of them. In March 2019, three of our U11 players have decided to undertake an Ironman Challenge.  For their U11 year, the Team decided that, rather than get a sponsor for their kit, that they would sponsor a charity.
