Fry Club JFC Wish You A Merry Christmas.
Fry Club JFC wish you all a Merry Christmas, and hope that you have a safe and enjoyable time.  For those of you looking forward to what Santa may bring you, on Christmas Eve you can track his progress across the world via NORAD, the North American Aerospace Defense Command centre in Colorado Springs.  You will also find there a link to many fun online games.  Alternatively, go to the Portable North Pole, where you can create a special personalised video for that special little girl or boy.

Results Are In For The 2011 Worst Kit Poll.
Fry Club JFC ran a competition to find the Worst Kit throughout 2011, and with the arrival of Christmas, and with over 430 votes cast, the voting comes to an end, and the results are in.  Please do not continue to vote as your vote will not count but you may still be charged.....  Just kidding!  There were two out and out leaders, with the Bristol Rovers pink 2nd with 30% of the vote, and the Bristol City purple + green the winners with 49% of the vote.  That said, given the local rivalry involved it is perhaps unsurprising, and if we were to remove those votes, the overall winner of the worst kit would be the brown Spurs away kit from 2006 with 40% of the rest of the votes.  The full results are shown to the right, and below are the winners and runner-up.

Fry's Player Signs For Bristol Rovers!
One of the Frys Colts U15's strikers has been signed by Bristol Rovers on a two year contract.  Callum Fry has been with Frys since the U13 season, and was part of the team that made it to the League Cup Final last season, as well as winning numerous tournaments with the Club.  His skills have long been coveted by other Clubs, and now he has a chance to show them at the highest level, where we wish him the very best for his future.  For more on the U15 Colts, visit their Team Page.

Does Heading The Ball Cause Brain Injury?
Are we too competitive with our children at football, so much so that we ignore possible future injury such as with the death of former England striker Jeff Astle, as discussed in this BBC Web Article?  This recent article in The Sun asks that question, as does this article on the website of CTV, a Canadian TV station.

Local Author's Debut Novel Success!
Local author Stuart Olds has found success with his debut novel, born out of his Bipolar Disorder, published through Tricorn Books as told on the This Is Bristol, This Is Bath and Keynsham People websites.  Hope’s Truth is a science fiction story about a civilisation in a parallel universe where the inhabitants have used up all their natural resources.  They find earth as it was 4,000 years ago when a space ship is dispatched on a mission to find an alternative home for them.  They have religions, languages and are more technologically advanced, however that does not mean they will succeed in the simple task of survival.  You can follow Stuart on Twitter, on Facebook as well as purchasing the novel on Amazon.  Stuart was also interviewed by Steve Yabsley for BBC Radio, which can be found via BBC iPlayer.  Why is this of interest on the Frys website?  If you look at the photo below from the 1982 Presentation, that’s Stuart sat holding the big teddy bear!

Fry's Historic Sponsorship Deal!

Fry Club U15 Colts have been inspired by Barcelona in their fundraising ideas. Rather than be paid for kit sponsorship, Barcelona paid Unicef £1 million per year to display their logo, as reported in this Guardian_Article, and Frys have decided to follow a similar route. Joining in with the Children’s Hospice South West based at Charlton Farm, Wraxall in the South West of Bristol, Frys will proudly display the CHSW logo for their final two seasons, and will collect money via collection tins at each game. Frys kicked off the fundraising drive at their game away to Yate Utd on Sunday 13th November 2011, and are grateful to Yate for the opportunity, as well as the £20 donation from the Yate team. Frys are also very grateful to Dribuild Interior Solutions who sponsor their home shirt, for donating the money to have the away shirts printed, and who are fully supportive of the effort. More information can be found on the website of the Somerset FA, This Is Bath, the U15 Colts Team_Page or on the website of the Children's Hospice South West.
