U16's Racing Ahead!

Our U16's recently held a hugely successful Race Night and they looked to raise funds in order to go on tour next Easter to the Holland Easter Open. Somerdale Pavilion was packed to the rafters and everyone involved had a thoroughly entertaining evening, and in doing so ensured that our U16's. in their final youth season will end it with a memory that will last them forever. Many teams from across Fry Club JFC were represented and our thanks also to Keynsham Town whose U16's were also their to support us in this amazing endeavor. For more on the U16's, view their Team Page.

County Lioness Award Winner!

Fry Club JFC would like to congratulate Mark Grinter for being awarded the first ever Somerset FA Lioness Award. Mark has been recognised for his services to Girl's and Women's football having been an integral part of our Female Game, almost from the inception of the Wildcats. Mark joined roughly six months after we started our Wildcats Centre having already been coaching our Boys for a number of years, and under his leadership it has grown from a small group of girls into the Wildcats, eleven Girls Teams (U7's, U8's, U9's, U10's Juniors, U10's Wanderers, U11's Juniors, U11's Wanderers, U12's, U13's Juniors, U13's Wanderers, U15's) and now our Women's Team.  Well done Mark!

Fry Club JFC Pay The Penalty!

With everything rained off recently, we take this opportunity to have a look back at the end of last season to when each Team's Penalty Award winners came together to battle it out to be the Club Champion (there can be only one... if you know your Highlander references!). The eventual Winner was the U12 Colts representative!

Well struck

U13 Girls Play International Match!

Back in the Summer, our U13 Girls Juniors played their second international match as they made the return journey to Cascade Youth Club, a 50 mile trip over to Ystrad Mynach in Wales. They first played Crusaders in the Summer of 2022 when they had visited Somerdale so it was only right that we went to them. It was a great match played in the spirit of international co-operation and friendliness. For more on the U13 Girls Juniors, view their Team Page.

Remember The Euros!

We look back to the Summer of 2022, when the England Lionesses had achieved European glory. It was for many the spark that lit the explosion in the Girl's and Women's game that we are now seeing. Back then Sky news came to Bristol and visited a local Soccer School to interview girls and get their take on the success of the Lionesses, and of course, Fry Club JFC girls were in the thick of it! For more videos and Photos, view the Sky Interview link.

Fry Club JFC Upskill For Your Children!

Fry Club JFC take their coaching very seriously, and understand that the children within their Teams look to them to provide the very best coaching that they can.  With that in mind our lead Coaches are all FA qualified to a minimum level.  We also ask that they look for other opportunities for CPD - Continuous Professional Development, and three of our Coaches did just that earlier this year when Mike Phelan, once assistant to Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester Utd laid on a Coaching Masterclass. If you are interested in getting into coaching and supporting your Team then please speak to your relevant Manager.

Play Safe Weekend 2023!

English football is united again this weekend to promote Play Safe – a countrywide campaign to focus attention of the vital importance of safeguarding in our national game.

Led by The Football Association, the Play Safe campaign is endorsed by the NSPCC and is supported this weekend across every level of English football, including the Premier League, EFL, Barclays Women’s Super League and Barclays Women’s Championship, and across the grassroots game.

This year’s Play Safe weekend focuses on the safeguarding role EVERYONE has to play – coach, player, parent/carer, spectator or volunteer – to keep children and young people safe, no matter what the football setting. EVERYONE, EVERYWHERE, EVERYTIME is encouraged to WATCH, LISTEN, TALK and ACT if they have any safeguarding concerns.

Frys Women JFC Enter The League!

Fry Club JFC took another major step forward this week as our new Women's Team were affiliated to the Bristol Women's Football Casual League.  This is the final step of the creation of the Girls into Women's Football Pathway which began with the creation of our Wildcats just five years ago.  To mark the occasion we look back at photos of the very first Women's Training Session. We at Fry Club JFC hope that this is the restart of our tournaments which stretch back to 1996, indeed this was the 16th tournament that we have hosted. We are immensely grateful to everyone who gave up their time to help us deliver the two days and especially Somerdale Pavilion for their support and of course our Tournament Sponsors. Alex Thompson

Fry Club Juniors are united in grief with the tragic loss of Alex Thompson. Alex started with Frys in the Soccer Tots and then progressed through the years with his team mates. Alex was an accomplished player and played with a smile on his face. All of those who came into contact with Alex at Fry Club JFC; the players, the coaches and supporters will carry his memory in their hearts. Alex had a big smile, a big heart and will be truly missed by all, especially the boys and girls who he played with and shared many memories throughout his Frys Journey. Our condolences go to Joanne, Sophie and Amy.

The Big Walk!

Fry Club JFC recently undertook a 10 mile roundtrip walk from Somerdale Pavilion to Kelston Round Hill and back, all in the name of Charity.  The Big Walk was open to the whole Club and many Teams got involved, all in aid of the Children's Hospice South West and our Club, with all funds raised being split equally between the two.  The day itself was glorious as over 120 girls, boys and parents set out at 10:00am on Sunday 7th May for what turned out to be four pleasant hours.  There were some unable to make the day, and they were instead set the challenge to walk a Mile-a-Day-in-May. At the end of the Walk, and the Month, we had raised over £6000, and presented the Hospice a cheque for £3,177.16 at the Girl's Presentation Evening.   This is not the first event that we have done for the Hospice, and there is a dedicated page for you to view the Club's Fundraising efforts.

Ready to go.

Everyone at the top

Clive Marsh

Fry Club Juniors is saddened to announce that Clive Marsh, one of the original Club members and referee of our very first match in 1968 has passed away. Clive went on to assist Les Stroud run our very first Team and was the first Club Vice-Chairperson, a capacity he held for fifteen years. Clive was waiting to have his haircut when Les called him out to referee that match and began fifteen years of service to our Club assisting teams first with Les, then with Rex Simmons and finally John Hicks. Our thoughts are with his wife Shirley.

Two Clubs Come Together For Charity!

Fry Club JFC and Red Falcon FC recently played a Charity match amongst their Coaches for the two Charities which they support; Fry Club JFC for the Children's Hospice South West and Red Falcon FC for Go Again, a charity who offer professional mental health support and content to people within sport and after sport.  The match itself, although lighthearted was keenly contested and ended with a 4-1 victory to Red Falcon after Fry Club JFC had spurned some first half opportunities.  Afterwards some good natured banter was heard as drinks flowed in the bar and everyone agreed the event was a cracking success for two worthwhile causes. Images of the event are available to view.

U7 Girls Make Their Debut!

Fry Club JFC launched another team this season with the official creation of our U7 Girls.  Usually Girl's football tends to begin at U8's as that is currently the youngest age group which the Bristol Girls League provide, however with more U7's starting up, it was important that we offer our Girls the best opportunities possible, and they made their fun footballing debuts at a tournament hosted by Portishead, and Photos are available.  For more on the U7 Girls you can view their Team Page.

Frys Women JFC Make Their Debut!

Fry Club JFC took another major step forward this week as our new Women's Team played their inaugural match at Home to Highridge United Ladies FC.  It was a well supported match and an entertaining spectacle, and Photos are available, however more importantly it represented the final part of the creation of the Girls into Women's Football Pathway which began with the creation of our Wildcats just five years ago.  Fittingly, one of those instigators, Kelsey Manning is now the Manager of the new Women's Team!  For more on the Women's Team you can view their Team Page.

Fry Club JFC Launch A Women's Team!

Fry Club JFC are proud to announce the launch of Frys Women JFC as part of our Player Pathway for the girls at our Club.  Frys Women JFC will start training on 29th March at 7pm. This is an exciting time for our girls section, as this will provide a pathway for the girls into adult football.  Hopefully this will encourage women who have always wanted to play, who have given up football, and those who want a fun new challenge the chance to have a go and see if they enjoy football.  You can follow the team on Instagram so please share to all your friends, and if you have any questions please drop them a message either through Facebook or Instagram. You can also register your interest through their Spond account where you will find details of future training sessions and games, and on this website where you can view their Team Page.

U15's Climbing New Heights!

Our U15's and some friends ascended to new heights just before Christmas as a few of them spent a great Team Building session on the climbing walls at Bloc Climbing Clip 'n' Climb.  Those brave enough also took a Leap of Faith and a photo of those who gathered is available to be viewed on the Club Facebook page. You can also view some photos of the Climbing by clicking the link. For more on the U15's, view their Team Page.

After The Flood!

Our Wildcats got back to what they enjoy last weekend as the pitches at Somerdale finally dried enough for them to train.  There were many smiling faces as they went through some familiar (and unfamiliar) routines. To see a few photos of the Training Session then click that link and for more on the Wildcats, view their Team Page.

U15's Get Theoretical!

Our U15's spent another evening in Somerdale Pavilion learning Football in a different way.  They had successfully tried it as U14's and so did it again earlier this season after the clocks had changed. They went through various different routine and phases of play looking at relevant aspects of the beautiful game, and again we highly recommend it as an alternative way of teaching players.  Click to see a few photos of their Theory Training, and for more on the U15's, view their Team Page.

Flooded Frys!

For the first time in three years, Somerdale pitches are underwater.  This used to be a regular Winter occurrence as our Flooded page illustrates.  With more heavy rain forecast however, this casts doubt on both training and matches in the near future.
